Carter IV Projected to Sell 700-850k in First Week
Lil Wayne's new album, Carter IV (available now), is projected to sell between 700,000 and 850,000 copies in the first week. The Carter III did over 1 million in its first week, and Mack Maine is quoted as saying "“With Wayne, I don’t want him to sell a million the first-week, [and] then drop to 100,000 the next week then 50,00 the following week,” Maine explained. “I’d rather sell ten times platinum total.” Mack told XXLmag.com that Wayne also said “[Wayne] actually told us if he don’t do those same numbers again as C3 don’t be mad"
The Young Money President also commented on Wayne's single, "How to Love," saying "'How to Love' is incredible, I think it’s gonna take him to another level. You sit back and ask if it’s possible for him to go somewhere else and now we actually see. ‘How to Love’ surprised me and the response surprised me. I expect the unexpected with him that’s my motto in life, but I didn’t know it was gonna go there."
Think Carter IV will break a million? Let us know!

Cole produced a lot of the album himself, save a few tracks from NO ID (who just became Executive VP of Def Jam), and a few features. This should be a solid album, his mixtapes have been crazy. Look for big things from this Roc Nation signee.
UPDATE: So J Cole's twitter had an interesting feed on it from a show he did in Canada a few days ago. Apparently the rapper/producer from North Carolina did a show in Vancouver to kick off his "Cole World Tour" on August 23rd. During the show, a female fan pick pocketed his cell phone while he was ON STAGE!
Lucky for Cole he had a film crew filming the entire show so he saw the chick jack his phone on CAMERA! After the show, he tweeted (@jcoleNC) "To the girl in the front row with the white shirt and pink bra," "Before I put this footage online of you stealin my phone out my pocket lol. Ima let you save the embarrassment and world star fame, by hittin @kingofqueenz or @iamdjdummy so I can get that back ASAP. U got a few hrs."
Followed by: "And please don't call Jay-z, he on vacation."
Apparently Jermaine got his phone back, because he tweeted "The power of twitter is UNREAL! Cole World, No Thievery."

New track from Taylor Gang rapper Chevy Woods was released a few days ago. His upcoming project, The Cookout, is due out this fall and is expected to be littered with features from the Taylor Gang leader, and Chevy's boy, Wiz Khalifa. The new artwork just dropped (its pretty dope) and the cover advertises "featuring Wiz Khalifa as Cap." The song, "Head Over Hills" is below, and the mixtape is slated for release early this fall. Watch The Throne Review
Even before Jay-Z and Kanye West announced plans to undertake a collaborative project, the notion always seemed like a realistic possibility considering their active past that dates back to 2000’s “This Can’t Be Life” off of The Dynasty: Roc La Familia. Each artist has evolved from that time in their respective careers, however their chemistry of creating music together has become a significant component within Hip Hop. Watch The Throne continues this tradition as the duo stake their claim for Rap supremacy.
Despite the slightly contemporary style early singles “H•A•M” and “Otis” depicted, the album-opening “No Church In The Wild” takes a sharp left as Frank Ocean’s voice emerges over haunting, pulsating synth and brooding drums. Asking, “What’s a king to a god? What’s a god to a non-believer”, Jay-Z and Kanye West lay out confessional rhymes, each pausing during their deliveries for added effect. “Murder To Excellence” also takes the experimental route as separate beats provided by Swizz Beatz and S1 chronicle two contrasting sides of the African American narrative.
With a title like Watch The Throne, hearing Hov and ‘Ye revel in their prosperity is a necessary avocation as the two trade bars about their wealth via “Gotta Have It,” while “Niggas In Paris” has them stuntin’ on a hundred thousand trillion. Add a cold Otis Redding Soul sample and neck-breaking drums to the aforementioned “Otis” and it’s evident that the two emcees have a knack for the braggadocio. In each instance, Jay-Z (“I’m planking on a million”) and Kanye (“I made ‘Jesus Walks’ I’m never goin’ to Hell / Couture-level flow it’s never going on sale”) provide quotable lines, although Kanye’s phrase “that shit cray” may be one that you can already expect to be overused this year.
In all its glory and jubilation production-wise, “Lift Off” feels hollow as Beyonce takes center stage with an otherwise forgettable chorus. Jay and Kanye follow suit with shortened, impassive verses. Similarly, “Welcome To The Jungle” lacks the type of execution and creativity found on the rest of the album with Swizz Beatz’ familiarly sharp, bouncing production falling to the wayside. Not much can be said about “That’s My Bitch,” other than that it sounded better as a My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy leftover than an add-on here.
The most compelling aspect of Watch The Throne, and it’s one that we’ve come to appreciate, is the lyrical dynamic between Jay-Z and Kanye West. Whereas Jay’s methodically complex rhymes over the flourishing double-time dubstep “Who Gon Stop Me” makes us hit rewind, Kanye’s lyrics exhibit an individual perpetually wearing his heart on his sleeve. His verse on “New Day” best exemplifies this, where in a self-reflective moment of clarity ‘Ye mulls over disheartening events in his life with hopes that his future son will learn from his mistakes.
Today’s Hip Hop scene has a rotating cast of notable stars, yet Watch The Throne simply wouldn’t have felt the same had it been two different rappers converging for something this monumental. Truth be told, each emcee has produced better solo material, but that doesn’t take away from the quality found on Watch The Throne, nor does it change the fact that crowns rest assuredly on their heads.

PRE SEASON PART DEUX!!!
Pre season part duex
Preseason game number two brings the Patriots down to Tampa to take on the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I don’t know how much we could take out of last week because one it was all backups and two the Jaguars suck. Tonight should be a better gauge of where this team is with about 3 weeks left until we head back down to the sunshine state and whoop on the Dolphins. So you are probably asking: Murph, what should I watch out for tonight? Here is what I will tell you.
1. Ochocinco is going to get his “angel wings” tonight and it should be interesting. With whispers of him being cut before the season starts its going to be interesting to see how PePe and TB12 mesh. From what I read he looks like shit in camp so I hope he steps it up and does his thing. If not The Ocho era will be over before it starts
2. Lets see what the big boys do tonight in the trenches. Looked very good last week but the Jags suck so it’s going to be nice to see some real competition on the field. Should be fun to see Nate Solder go up againt some young studs in a pair of rookies on the Bucs D Line Adrian Clayborn and De’quan Bowers. Remember in April everyone was screaming for the pats to take Bowers in the draft so let’s see what this kid has. Im guessing not much since we passed up on him.
3. Honestly that’s really all I got it’s the fucking preseason and I got a fantasy draft to get ready for. Got the first pick no clue who I am going to go with, and quite honestly it doesn’t matter who I take in the first or second round everyone is good I could honestly close my eyes and pick one name out of the top 12 people and be happy with it. The draft starts 4th round on and that’s where I’ll go to work. Check this shit out over the weekend I’ll keep you posted on Child Pease’s roster. Just copy it and you should win your league
Look for the recap tomorrow.

Video: Headlines by Drake
This song has been out for a bit now, but it just goes so hard I couldn't not post it.
Enjoy.
Hip Hop Cash Kings
Here's Forbes' annual list of the highest grossing artists in the industry. Jay Z on top, no surprises there. He was (kinda has been) crowned the King of Hip Hop, an appropriate title, hes just got to watch his throne (ha!). A couple ties in there this year, notably Lil Wayne and Birdman tied, even though Birdman released no album or popular single, and Wayne was locked up more than half the year...Shocking that newcomer Wiz Khalifa and Drizzy Drake tied for 8th, both bringing in $11 million. Pharrell is also on the list, with $10 million, without releasing an album or major US touring. Here's the list:
Jay-Z – $37M
Diddy – $35M
Kanye West – $16M
Lil Wayne – $15M (tie)
Birdman – $15M (tie)
Eminem – $14M (tie)
Snoop Dogg $14M (tie)
Dr. Dre $14M (tie)
Akon – $13M
Ludacris – $12M
Wiz Khalifa – $11M (tie)
Drake – $11M (tie)
Pharrell Williams – $10M
Timbaland – $7M
Swizz Beatz – $6.5M
Nicki Minaj – $6.5M
Rick Ross – $6M (tie)
50 Cent – $6M (tie)
Pitbull – $6M (tie)
T-Pain – $5M
B.o.B – $5M
Fashion: Dwayne Wade's Hublot Watch
The Miami Heat guard has come out with an exclusive timepiece in collaboration with luxury watchmaker Hublot. The watch, shown below, is selling for about $20,000 a pop and there are only 500 available. They will be released to the public this fall.
Good look to D Wade, this shit is hot.
Watch The Throne Official Release Party Recap
So as you probably know, Jay Z and Kanye (although Kanye was a no show at his own party. Who would expect that??) held their album release party last night at LIV in Miami. There were live, real-time Twitter updates all the way along, and we came up with the following recap. Highlights include:$250,000 worth of Ace of Spades, $25,000-a-pop tables, and a star studded guest list.
Here's what we got:
1. Lines started forming in front of LIV, inside the Fountainebleau lobby at like 3PM. Pictures started floating around garnishing tens of thousands of views of the growing crowds so early on. God help those people if they parked in the Fountainebleau’s valet. Pull out that checkbook if you went over 3 hours. And wow, they put in a 3PM to 5am shift to go clubbing at LIV. That’s 14 hours.
2. The door price was astronomical at 11PM and kept climbing I heard. The guys had to pay more, but the ladies weren’t far behind. If you averaged it out, it was a couple hundred dollars for general admission into a club on a Sunday in the middle of August. By the time you got in, you had no more money to buy drinks. Yep…dat shit cray. Some people got a pair of Made-In-China LIV Shutter Sunglasses though.
3. The tweets streaming on Twitter leading up to this party were epic. From the people warning groupies to get on their A-Game, to the folks who made it inside sounding like they just finished running a marathon. It was all comedy. I was there reading that shit while sipping on some hot green tea. Hilarity. *NOTE: I don’t drink green tea while reading the internet folks, just a joke.
4. The inside of LIV was how do I say….in my best Drew Barrymore voice….magical. As it always is. And how cute, there was a throne on stage. You know because its a Watch The Throne release party. Get it? Got it? Good.
5. Julia Beverly, Baller Allert, NecoleBitchie and Freshalina from Crunktastical were in the house reppin’. These ladies kept Twitter pleasantly entertained throughout the night, with Julia pointing out that rather than spending $25,000 on a nice mid-size vehicle, cats were spending that on a temporary table at LIV last night. Yep…dat shit cray.
6. No Heat players disgraced us by showing up. None of them were in the building. Thank the lawd.
7. The lovely bottle service waitresses can all pretty much retire after all that money they made last night. Combine their winnings with what they made off Mark Cuban’s expenditure at LIV two months ago – and they are set foe’ life.
8. Speaking of outdoing Mark Cuban, Jay-Z showed up presidential style. Steve Stoute was part of the posse. And yes, they eventually broke Mark Cuban’s record and spent $250,000 on tons of Ace Of Spades, including one of those infamous 15L bottles. And thus, when it came out in the bottle casket, a million twitpics hit Twitter and we were all satisfied. Smh. America, what happened to us? Srsly.
9. Kanye never had any intentions of coming to LIV. He was in Sweden fresh off a performance with Prince. So he was a no-show apparently because his flight got canceled due to bad weather. Nah. We all know Ye’ would much rather have stayed in Sweden with a couple white gul’s by his side and let The Artist Formely Known As Prince make him some pancakes for breakfast. Pancakes. [twitpic]
10. Ne-Yo showed up though, as well as Flo-Rida and Fat Joe apparently. Also in the mix was Puff Daddy’s (I refuse to call him Diddy) baby momma Kim Porter. And tons of industry folk.
11. Jay-Z posed for like one photo, next to Mike Gardner and WWWes. Other than that, you woulda’ had your head cracked with a Ace Of Spades bottle if you even attempted to take a photo of Jay-Z.
12. On a positive note, DJ Clue, Stevie J and Don P held it down on the music tip for the entire night.
13. When it was time for the birthday boy Jay-Z to get on the mic, Jay did a Rick Ross grunt (*ungh*) on the mic, and Meek Mill quickly interrupted him, took the mic and started to perform. You know, because a Meek Mill performance of “I’m A Boss” at a Watch The Throne release party totally makes sense. *NOTE: Due to the person that commented below, I should note that this was a joke. Meek Mill didn’t snatch the mic..at all. He came through like a boss and performed on the booth and livened up the crowd like he has been since hitting up the Miami club circuit the last couple months. Nothing more nothing less. Its just a joke people.*
14. 8am Monday morning, LIV managers and security took all that money they made last night and deposited it to their bank account. Laughing all the way to Le Bank.
Poppin' bottles, puttin' supermodels in the cab, proof!

PRE SEASON KICKS OFF TONIGHT!!!
Tonight at Gillette Stadium the Pats are back in action when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first pre-season game of the year. I realize this is only a preseason game but still its football and 2 months ago we were uncertain if there was even going to be a season, so I’m pumped and you should be too. I’ll have a full season preview in the next week. However I know for you pink hat fans you’re only going to watch because you think Tom Brady and the rest of the fan favs will be doing work, but…..you are wrong. Here are 3 things to watch for:
1.Keep a close eye on 3rd string rookie QB Ryan Mallett dude has a huge arm, and if it wasn’t for off the field problems this guy would have been a first round pick instead of a 3rd round steal for the Hoody and company. QB of the future or trade bait for a team in a desperate need of a franchise QB?
2. Will BB show his hand on what kind of front the Pats will be showing? My guess is no, especially with Albert Haynesworth and Shaun Ellis most likely not playing, but it should be interesting to see what they show in the first pre season game.
3. Competition at WR. Everyone knows the big names in Welker and Ochocinco but there’s a big battle going on for the last few receiver spots between Brandon Tate, Julian Edelman, Taylor Price, Matthew Slater, Darnell Jenkins, and Jeremy Ross. My guess is Tate is going to be nasty but he just needs to stay healthy. But on some serious shit Taylor Price is a stud if he can just learn the play book. Look for the 2nd year wide out from the University of Ohio to step up big, and have a break out year starting tonight.
Seriously though its Thursday night football is back so have a few brews, light one up, and bump some HDC during the commercials and get ready for a great season!
GO Pats

HDC's own Scoot P had the chance to catch up with The Game at a Hot 106 exclusive Listening event in Rhode Island. They chopped it up over the state of the game, music changing his life, and HDC's current projects. Shout out to Kid Red and the whole Black Wall Street family.
Scoot says "For me, it was just a great experience, to meet someone so real, that made it. It serves as motivation to work hard and continue moving forward in the music game."
The Game's fourth solo album, R.E.D, will be in stores on August 23rd.

Jay Z Buys Billionaire Boys Club
GQ magazine reports that Hov's fashion company, Rocawear, now owns the exclusive license to manufacture and distribute the exclusive clothing line. Billionaire Boys Club, or BBC, is a luxury clothing line established by Neptune's front man Pharrell and Nigro, the founder of BAPE. They are known for their wildly popular tee shirts and fitted caps, and the brand is a favorite of the young, rich, and powerful. It is rumored that Jay and Pharrell will work together on this project to continue bringing high end fashion to the masses at high end prices. Jay tweeted "Partnering with @4real4rell on BBC, follow him..." on August 3rd. With the support of clothing giant Rocawear, BBC will have the backing that most urban fashion companies lack and will look to expand its already prevalent empire in the upcoming months. Check back for more on the groundbreaking deal. The deal was finalized just days beofre Watch the Throne, a joint album featuring both Jay and Kanye West, is to be released. Check out their single, O.T.I.S here.
Hopefully they aren't just frontin'.
OutKast Rapper Big Boi Arrested with Viagra and MDMA
Half of the veteran rap duo OutKast has been arrested and charged with possession of controlled substances. Antwan André Patton, better known as rapper Big Boi, was arrested by customs and boarder patrol after drug sniffing dogs flagged the rapper as suspicious. The Grammy winning rapper was searched after coming off a cruise ship in Miami and was found to be in possession of Ecstasy pills, MDMA powder, and Viagra. According to Miami-Dade County Corrections Department Big was booked into jail at around 1:35 pm and is facing four felony charges, three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $16,000 bond. No word on when he will get out but I hear the punishment for possessing Viagra without a prescription are pretty stiff.
His upcoming solo record, Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader is due out later this year.
Video: Mac Miller Causes Riot at City Hall
Mac Miller's set at the Urban Music Fest at City Hall yesterday must have been pretty good. The almost 50,000 people that showed up seemed to enjoy the show. Fights broke out, bottles got smashed, weed got smoked, and 14 year old white kids got their day. Reminiscent of last summer's free Wiz Khalifa concert (at the same venue), when a similarly sized mob ran the Taylor Gang general off stage, Miller tweeted "50k people now rioting" minutes after the fighting broke out. Miller, a 19 year old Pittsburgh native, is most well known for his mixtapes K.I.D.S. and Best Day Ever, and his single "Donald Trump" has amassed over 20 million views on YouTube. Miller is signed to Rostrum Records and attributes his success to hard work and fellow Pittsburg rapper Wiz Khalifa, saying "Wiz has been a big brother to me with this music thing so far. Our relationship is beyond music. He really is just my homie, whether I will be making music or not." Mac Miller's debut album, Blue Slide Park is slated for a Fall 2011 release, with his first single "Miller Family Reunion" available for download here.

Rick Ross Buys "Wingstop" Franchise in Memphis
Ricky Rozay has just added a fast food franchise to his investment portfolio. The Miami heavyweight has just inked a deal with the Wingstop chain and is slated to open his first restaurant this fall. Ross says "After tasting Wingstop's signature lemon-pepper flavored wings in Miami, I knew this was a franchise I wanted to add to my investments." The restaurant has several unique menu items created by the MMG owner himself, and is slated to open its doors in Memphis by October. No word on how much the deal is worth, but Ross expects to open several locations by the end of 2012. The Memphis location will have several Rozay influenced menu items, including:
» The "9 Piece" Meal: A family-sized order of Wingstop's signature wings, sauced and tossed to your liking. As an added bonus, can be ordered from your iPhone.
» The "Archie Bunker:" Never-breaded wings slathered in a creamy Alfredo sauce. So white we just might charge you double.
» The "Three C's Combo:" Color, cut and clarity. Or, you know, cheddar, cool-ranch, and cayenne-pepper flavored wings.
» The "B.M.F.:" A big mother-f---ing buffalo chicken sandwich, comes with Big Meech coleslaw and Larry Hoover fries.
» The "Trilla:" A classic. Heaping portion of Wingstop "boneless chicken strips," smothered in Jay-Z's tangy teriyaki sauce. R.Kelly extra.
» The "Uhhh!:" Ricky's favorite. A guttural, sweaty plate of wings, fries and strips, drizzled with garlic parmesan sauce. Comes with a side of Maybach Music honey mustard and a large soda. No substitutions, because, as the owner says, "God Forgives, I Don't."
Hopefully the rapper (known for his love of all things smoke-able and eatable) will leave some wings left over for the customers.

MollaSpace
The Armed Revolver Notebook; The Kill Time Mug.
Housegoods… not just for your lame girlfriends to pick out anymore.
Straight outta Los Angeles, MollaSpace is a worldwide collective of designers focused on innovation and straight funkin’ up your spot with crazy alternatives to boring-ass vases, coffee mugs, ashtrays and other shit you would normally seek out at a yard sale or second-hand shop. Flea market quality, however, MollaSpace is not – this crew happily utilizes heavy duty ceramics, metals and plastics in surprising ways that always end up in mind-fucking results… and speaking of dirty, filthy brain-boning, check the designers and the work they have done for themselves and MollaSpace. Can’t wait to see what they serve up next.
We’ve got a limited supply here at The ‘Loop for Summer ’11 (more to come this fall), so if you like what you’re seeing, don’t hesitate.
The Peaceful Bomb Vase
