Watch The Throne Official Release Party Recap

So as you probably know, Jay Z and Kanye (although Kanye was a no show at his own party. Who would expect that??) held their album release party last night at LIV in Miami. There were live, real-time Twitter updates all the way along, and we came up with the following recap. Highlights include:$250,000 worth of Ace of Spades, $25,000-a-pop tables, and a star studded guest list.

Here's what we got:

1. Lines started forming in front of LIV, inside the Fountainebleau lobby at like 3PM. Pictures started floating around garnishing tens of thousands of views of the growing crowds so early on. God help those people if they parked in the Fountainebleau’s valet. Pull out that checkbook if you went over 3 hours. And wow, they put in a 3PM to 5am shift to go clubbing at LIV. That’s 14 hours.

2. The door price was astronomical at 11PM and kept climbing I heard. The guys had to pay more, but the ladies weren’t far behind. If you averaged it out, it was a couple hundred dollars for general admission into a club on a Sunday in the middle of August. By the time you got in, you had no more money to buy drinks. Yep…dat shit cray. Some people got a pair of Made-In-China LIV Shutter Sunglasses though.

3. The tweets streaming on Twitter leading up to this party were epic. From the people warning groupies to get on their A-Game, to the folks who made it inside sounding like they just finished running a marathon. It was all comedy. I was there reading that shit while sipping on some hot green tea. Hilarity. *NOTE: I don’t drink green tea while reading the internet folks, just a joke.

4. The inside of LIV was how do I say….in my best Drew Barrymore voice….magical. As it always is. And how cute, there was a throne on stage. You know because its a Watch The Throne release party. Get it? Got it? Good.

5. Julia Beverly, Baller Allert, NecoleBitchie and Freshalina from Crunktastical were in the house reppin’. These ladies kept Twitter pleasantly entertained throughout the night, with Julia pointing out that rather than spending $25,000 on a nice mid-size vehicle, cats were spending that on a temporary table at LIV last night. Yep…dat shit cray.

6. No Heat players disgraced us by showing up. None of them were in the building. Thank the lawd.

7. The lovely bottle service waitresses can all pretty much retire after all that money they made last night. Combine their winnings with what they made off Mark Cuban’s expenditure at LIV two months ago – and they are set foe’ life.

8. Speaking of outdoing Mark Cuban, Jay-Z showed up presidential style. Steve Stoute was part of the posse. And yes, they eventually broke Mark Cuban’s record and spent $250,000 on tons of Ace Of Spades, including one of those infamous 15L bottles. And thus, when it came out in the bottle casket, a million twitpics hit Twitter and we were all satisfied. Smh. America, what happened to us? Srsly.

9. Kanye never had any intentions of coming to LIV. He was in Sweden fresh off a performance with Prince. So he was a no-show apparently because his flight got canceled due to bad weather. Nah. We all know Ye’ would much rather have stayed in Sweden with a couple white gul’s by his side and let The Artist Formely Known As Prince make him some pancakes for breakfast. Pancakes. [twitpic]

10. Ne-Yo showed up though, as well as Flo-Rida and Fat Joe apparently. Also in the mix was Puff Daddy’s (I refuse to call him Diddy) baby momma Kim Porter. And tons of industry folk.

11. Jay-Z posed for like one photo, next to Mike Gardner and WWWes. Other than that, you woulda’ had your head cracked with a Ace Of Spades bottle if you even attempted to take a photo of Jay-Z.

12. On a positive note, DJ Clue, Stevie J and Don P held it down on the music tip for the entire night.

13. When it was time for the birthday boy Jay-Z to get on the mic, Jay did a Rick Ross grunt (*ungh*) on the mic, and Meek Mill quickly interrupted him, took the mic and started to perform. You know, because a Meek Mill performance of “I’m A Boss” at a Watch The Throne release party totally makes sense. *NOTE: Due to the person that commented below, I should note that this was a joke. Meek Mill didn’t snatch the mic..at all. He came through like a boss and performed on the booth and livened up the crowd like he has been since hitting up the Miami club circuit the last couple months. Nothing more nothing less. Its just a joke people.*

14. 8am Monday morning, LIV managers and security took all that money they made last night and deposited it to their bank account. Laughing all the way to Le Bank.

Poppin' bottles, puttin' supermodels in the cab, proof!

Jay Z Buys Billionaire Boys Club

GQ magazine reports that Hov's fashion company, Rocawear, now owns the exclusive license to manufacture and distribute the exclusive clothing line. Billionaire Boys Club, or BBC, is a luxury clothing line established by Neptune's front man Pharrell and Nigro, the founder of BAPE. They are known for their wildly popular tee shirts and fitted caps, and the brand is a favorite of the young, rich, and powerful. It is rumored that Jay and Pharrell will work together on this project to continue bringing high end fashion to the masses at high end prices. Jay tweeted "Partnering with @4real4rell on BBC, follow him..." on August 3rd. With the support of clothing giant Rocawear, BBC will have the backing that most urban fashion companies lack and will look to expand its already prevalent empire in the upcoming months. Check back for more on the groundbreaking deal. The deal was finalized just days beofre Watch the Throne, a joint album featuring both Jay and Kanye West, is to be released. Check out their single, O.T.I.S here.

Hopefully they aren't just frontin'.

OutKast Rapper Big Boi Arrested with Viagra and MDMA

Half of the veteran rap duo OutKast has been arrested and charged with possession of controlled substances. Antwan André Patton, better known as rapper Big Boi, was arrested by customs and boarder patrol after drug sniffing dogs flagged the rapper as suspicious. The Grammy winning rapper was searched after coming off a cruise ship in Miami and was found to be in possession of Ecstasy pills, MDMA powder, and Viagra. According to Miami-Dade County Corrections Department Big was booked into jail at around 1:35 pm and is facing four felony charges, three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $16,000 bond. No word on when he will get out but I hear the punishment for possessing Viagra without a prescription are pretty stiff.

His upcoming solo record, Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader is due out later this year.

Video: Mac Miller Causes Riot at City Hall

Mac Miller's set at the Urban Music Fest at City Hall yesterday must have been pretty good. The almost 50,000 people that showed up seemed to enjoy the show. Fights broke out, bottles got smashed, weed got smoked, and 14 year old white kids got their day. Reminiscent of last summer's free Wiz Khalifa concert (at the same venue), when a similarly sized mob ran the Taylor Gang general off stage, Miller tweeted "50k people now rioting" minutes after the fighting broke out. Miller, a 19 year old Pittsburgh native, is most well known for his mixtapes K.I.D.S. and Best Day Ever, and his single "Donald Trump" has amassed over 20 million views on YouTube. Miller is signed to Rostrum Records and attributes his success to hard work and fellow Pittsburg rapper Wiz Khalifa, saying "Wiz has been a big brother to me with this music thing so far. Our relationship is beyond music. He really is just my homie, whether I will be making music or not." Mac Miller's debut album, Blue Slide Park is slated for a Fall 2011 release, with his first single "Miller Family Reunion" available for download here.

Rick Ross Buys "Wingstop" Franchise in Memphis

Ricky Rozay has just added a fast food franchise to his investment portfolio. The Miami heavyweight has just inked a deal with the Wingstop chain and is slated to open his first restaurant this fall. Ross says "After tasting Wingstop's signature lemon-pepper flavored wings in Miami, I knew this was a franchise I wanted to add to my investments." The restaurant has several unique menu items created by the MMG owner himself, and is slated to open its doors in Memphis by October. No word on how much the deal is worth, but Ross expects to open several locations by the end of 2012. The Memphis location will have several Rozay influenced menu items, including:

» The "9 Piece" Meal: A family-sized order of Wingstop's signature wings, sauced and tossed to your liking. As an added bonus, can be ordered from your iPhone.

» The "Archie Bunker:" Never-breaded wings slathered in a creamy Alfredo sauce. So white we just might charge you double.

» The "Three C's Combo:" Color, cut and clarity. Or, you know, cheddar, cool-ranch, and cayenne-pepper flavored wings.

» The "B.M.F.:" A big mother-f---ing buffalo chicken sandwich, comes with Big Meech coleslaw and Larry Hoover fries.

» The "Trilla:" A classic. Heaping portion of Wingstop "boneless chicken strips," smothered in Jay-Z's tangy teriyaki sauce. R.Kelly extra.

» The "Uhhh!:" Ricky's favorite. A guttural, sweaty plate of wings, fries and strips, drizzled with garlic parmesan sauce. Comes with a side of Maybach Music honey mustard and a large soda. No substitutions, because, as the owner says, "God Forgives, I Don't."

Hopefully the rapper (known for his love of all things smoke-able and eatable) will leave some wings left over for the customers.
